Increasing and Retaining African American and Latino/Latina University Students in the Education/Teaching Pipeline

We invite students of color and faculty members from Indiana Schools of Education to join us at Marian University, Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the  Ruth Lilly Student Center (RLSC) Community Room, 3200 Cold Spring Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Other students are also welcome to join us to add to the discussion.

We had a very informative first meeting last Friday at the University of Indianapolis.  It was wonderful to see all of you who were able to attend.  Thank you for your participation in our discussions.  Attached are notes from the meeting.  Please note on your calendar that our next meeting is Friday, November 20th at the Anderson University Flagship Center.  More information about the meeting is in the notes.  Details will be sent closer to the date.

October 4th- 5th: ICTM Conference

Greetings!  I want to share a very important event for future teachers of mathematics in Indiana.  The Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) will be bringing featured speakers from out of state as well as those from our own practices in Indiana,to a fall conference at the Sheraton Hotel at Keystone-at-the-Crossing. Indianapolis, IN.  The conference will begin on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. and continue through Monday.

As you know, a curricular focus of core content is directed toward STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).  Our theme for this fall conference isPutting the “M" in StEM, Enhancing RIGOR in the K – 12 Mathematics Classroom.

I invite you to share this information with your elementary and secondary teacher candidates as we strive to strengthen and support the teaching of mathematics for our K-12 students.  I have attached a flyer to assist you in disseminating this information.  Faculty and students may register for the conference at our website:
