IACTE Day at the Statehouse - REMINDER!

IACTE Colleagues -

We are excited to have to date 10 of our member institutions planning to bring students to our second annual Day at the Statehouse.  Clearly, we would love to have more institutions and students involved in the opportunity to talk with our state legislators about the quality of teacher education in Indiana.  PLEASE consider sending to Jonathan Dee, jjdee@bsu.edu, names of students and at least one faculty representative to join us in Indianapolis.  At the end of the message are listed the institutions from whom we have students identified (Thank you!), as well as content areas in which we could use more student representatives.  The details are:

  • WHEN : Thursday, February 23, 9:30 am - 2:00 pm (Eastern Time)

(a light lunch will be provided)

Invitation to IACTE Day at the Statehouse

IACTE Colleagues –

While tomorrow does belong to our children, their success undoubtedly will be forged in part by the impact of future teachers in their lives.

IACTE is hosting the second annual Day at the Indiana Statehouse on February 23, 2017. The theme for the day will be “Meet Indiana’s Future: Our Future Teachers.” We are excited to welcome all IACTE members to join us for a day where our teacher candidates, Indiana’s future teachers, have a chance to interact with their legislators. Selected junior and senior candidates, from our traditional teacher preparations programs will be prepared to discuss and to highlight the clinical and real world experiences that they have throughout our programs.

Organized in the south atrium of the Statehouse, our teacher candidates will have the chance to discuss their programs and their great positive experiences impacting Indiana’s P-12 students.  A light lunch will be served during part of the program, which will run from 10:00AM until 1:30PM Eastern Time.  Therefore, the total commitment for teacher candidates would be approximately from 9:30AM until 2:00PM Eastern Time.
